This 9 day tour packs in the essential highlights of Peru: charming Andean towns, the greatest Inca ruin and the lush Amazon rainforest. Starting in Lima, then moving to the Andes, you will have the opportunity to explore the charming colonial town of Cuzco, the frontier town of Aguas Calientes and its hot springs, the spiritual splendour of Machu Picchu and the jungles of the Peruvian Amazon.

Day 1 Arrive Lima

Day 2 Cuzco
Early morning transfer to the airport for flight to Cuzco. In Cuzco you will be met by your guide and transferred to the hotel. Relax or explore the spiritual sites of Sacsayhuaman and Tambo Machay.

Day 3 Aguas Calientes
Board an early morning train with a local guide as you wind through the Urubamba Valley towards Aguas Calientes. Enjoy the local scenery or the bustling activity along the railway tracks. Archaeology buffs can visit Machu Picchu independently before the guided tour the following morning.

Day 4 Machu Picchu / Cuzco
Rise early to take advantage of viewing Machu Picchu in the early morning light. This is the best time to view the 'Lost City of the Incas'. Our local guide will provide a detailed interpretation of the Inca history before the majority of other tourists arrive at midday. Leave for Cuzco by train in the afternoon.

Day 5 Cuzco
With a friendly, colonial atmosphere, Cuzco offers nearby Inca ruins, cobblestone streets, museums, markets and churches. Rafting, horseback riding and mountain biking are also possible.

Day 6, 7 Amazon Jungle (2B,2L,2D)
Fly from high in the Andes to Puerto Maldonado, deep in the lowlands of the Amazon jungle. Then travel by motorized canoe to our lodge in the Tambopata Rainforest Area, which holds the world record for the most bird sightings in one area. Explore the jungle with expert local guides.

Day 8 Lima
Fly to Lima via Cuzco for a final night on the town.

Day 9 Depart Lima
