Inca Trail Advisory
Important information regarding new regulations and booking procedures
for the Inca Trail to Machu Piccu.
Difficulty Level
An active tour that highlights the diversity of Peru's ecology, geography
and culture. Ideal for adventurers who want to stay active, but enjoy
a bit more comfort. The Inca Trail is a moderate to difficult hike at
altitude. Accommodation in the jungle is a little more rustic due to the
remoteness of the area.
Accommodation
3 nights hotels, 2 nights jungle lodge, 3 nights camping.
Transportation
Private van, local flight, train, boat, canoe.
Food Included
Continental breakfast daily, all meals while in the jungle and on the
Inca Trail.
Tour guide
throughout (except on the Inca Trail), local guides in Cuzco, Inca Trail,
Machu Picchu, and the jungle.
Budget
Allow USD $20 per day for food - for additional expenses, see dossier.
Notes
(1) Last minute bookings of this trip and all trips that include the Inca
Trail will be on an "on request" basis only. To make a booking
request of a tour which includes the Inca Trail, we require your full
name, date of birth, nationality and passport number.
(2) A return Cuzco-Lima flight on Day 9 or later can be arranged, if requested
at time of booking.
(3) For group members who do not wish to hike the Inca Trail, please refer

Day 1 Arrive Lima
Day 2,3 Amazon Rainforest (2B, 2L, 2D)
Morning flight to Puerto Maldonado. We take a motorized canoe down the
Tambopata River to our rainforest lodge. Our local guides help us spot
the abundant Amazon wildlife as we explore by foot and dugout canoe. Possible
visit to a parrot clay lick and oxbow lake.
Day 4 Cuzco (B)
We take a short boat ride out of the jungle before flying to Cuzco high
in the Andes. We have a guided tour of Cuzco to learn about the history
of the longest continually inhabited city on the continent.
Day 5-8 Inca Trail (4B, 3L, 3D)
A morning trip to km 82 begins a once in a lifetime journey on the ancient
trail of the Incas. Local porters and guides ensure that the trip is worry-free.
Fascinating ruins and spectacular mountain scenery fill every day of the
hike. On the final day, we climb the steps to Intipunku, the 'Sun Gate',
to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Return to Cuzco by train in the
afternoon.
Day 9 Depart Cuzco
Note: Return flight to Lima can be arranged if requested.
