Wellington. Explore the fascinating culture of New Zealand's North Island.
Join us on a journey through the land of the Lord of the Rings. From the
island's volcanic plateau to the unique thermal regions experience the
best of the North - including a marae stay with a traditional 'hangi'
dinner, some of New Zealand's best wines and the rural Wairarapa region.
Days 1-2 Auckland
Known as the 'city of sails', Auckland is a melting pot of pacific flavours.
Explore the vast waterfront, take a day trip to one of the many islands
or head out to a nearby beach.
Day 3 Coromandel
We travel to the beautiful east coast area of the Coromandel - a haven
for Kiwi holiday makers and home to stunning white sand beaches.
Day 4 Rotorua
Rotorua is at the heart of New Zealand's Maori culture. We stay on a marae
and feast on a hangi - a traditional meal cooked in the ground. We also
have the opportunity to explore the thermal activity nearby.
Days 5-6 Tongariro National
Park
Today we drive along the shores of the country's largest lake before settling
in to stay near Tongariro National Park, featured heavily in the 'Lord
of the Rings'.
Days 7-8 Napier
Leaving the central plateau we head east to the coast and the art deco
city of Napier. Hawkes Bay is a premium wine area and we have the opportunity
to sample some the best blends on offer.
Days 9-11 Wellington
We head over the Rimutaka hills and into the capital, Wellington and then
take a trip to the Wairarapa Coast for the rugged coastline and beautiful
scenery.
