Kathmandu, Lhasa, Gyantse, Buddhist monasteries,
Shigatse. Discover the remote beauty and exteme diversity of the
Roof of the World. Local hospitality preludes the sublime beauty of a
Himalayan panorama. We'll traverse remote lands, visit active Buddhist
monasteries and immerse ourselves in the religious culture of this remarkable
part of the world for a travel experience unlike any other.
Day 1-3 Kathmandu
As the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu's charms are well known to travellers
from all over the globe. Visit Durbur Square, Swayambhunath and the valley
town of Bhaktapur before a day trip to the rim of Kathmandu Valley for
spectacular mountain views.
Day 4-7 Lhasa
The remote beauty of the Potala Palace, the awe-inspiring Sera Monastery
and the Dalai Lama's summer palace at Norbulingka are just a few of the
many incredible sights on offer in this spiritual city.
Day 8 Gyantse
Retaining much of its original Tibetan charm Gyantse is home to the country's
largest stupa. Explore the superb Gyantse Kumbum with its endless Buddhist
images and the imposing old fort.
Day 9, 10 Shigatse
Tour the walled Tashilhunpo Monastery with its ancient chapels and sacred
tombs. Join the monks on their kora as they circle the monastery in a
clockwise direction while the prayer wheels spin in unison.
Day 11, 12 Kathmandu
Enjoy the energetic street life and curio shopping in the colourful Kathmandu
district of Thamel before a delicious farewell banquet.
