Inca Trail Advisory
Important information regarding new regulations and booking procedures
for the Inca Trail to Machu Piccu.
Difficulty Level
An active tour with extra comfort, and lots of variety. Comfy hotels with
more rustic accommodations in the Amazon because of the remote area. The
Inca Trail is a moderate 4 day hike at high altitude.
Accommodation
7 nights hotels, 2 nights jungle lodge, 3 nights camping.
Transportation
Private van, local flight, train, boat, canoe.
Food Included
Continental breakfast daily, all meals while in the jungle and on the
Inca Trail.
Tour guide
throughout (except on the Inca Trail), local guides in Cuzco, Machu Picchu,
the jungle, and Lake Titicaca.
Budget
Allow USD $20 per day for food - for additional expenses, see dossier.
Notes
(1) Last minute bookings of this trip and all trips that include the Inca
Trail will be on an "on request" basis only. To make a booking
request of a tour which includes the Inca Trail we require your full name,
date of birth, nationality and passport number.
(2) For group members who do not wish to hike the Inca Trail please ask
us about the tour "Essence of Peru" (GPEE).

From the depths of the Amazon rainforest to the
heights of the Andes Mountain Range, and on to the islands of Lake
Titicaca, discover Peru's diverse ecology, geology, and culture. See what
wonders lie hidden beneath the rainforest canopy. Experience the buzz
of excitement in Cuzco, with its local markets, handicrafts, cobblestone
streets and buildings made of Inca stonework. Hike the Inca Trail to Machu
Picchu and visit the world's highest navigable lake and its islands, Lake
Titicaca. Travel in style with us and take this opportunity to see how
the past and present come together in Peruvian daily life.
Day 1 Arrive Lima
Day 2, 3 Amazon Rainforest (2B, 2L, 2D)
Morning flight to Puerto Maldonado. We take a motorized canoe down the
Tambopata River to our remote rainforest lodge. Explore the rainforest
by foot and dugout canoe with our expert local guides. The Amazon presents
excellent wildlife-spotting opportunities. Possible visit to a parrot
clay lick and oxbow lake.
Day 4 Cuzco (B)
We take a canoe trip out of the jungle before flying to Cuzco in the Andes.
Guided tour of the city to learn about its rich, fascinating history.
Day 5-8 Inca Trail (4B, 3L, 3D)
A morning trip to km 82 begins a once in a lifetime journey on the ancient
trail of the Incas. Our local porters and guides ensure that the trip
is worry-free. Fascinating ruins and spectacular mountain scenery fill
every day of the hike. On the final day, we climb the steps to Intipunku,
the 'Sun Gate', to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Return to Cuzco
by train in the afternoon.
Day 9 Cuzco (B)
Free day in Cuzco to explore its many back alleys, museums and churches
built on Inca ruins. Explore the sights and sounds of this great colonial
town or spend the day mountain biking or rafting.
Day 10, 11 Puno / Lake Titicaca (2B)
Enjoy spectacular countryside views on this full day of travel through
the Andes from Cuzco to Puno. We take a boat trip across Lake Titicaca
in the morning to visit the floating reed islands of the Uros people.
Visit various islands to enjoy the lake's scenic splendour and meet the
friendly local villagers.
Day 12 Lima (B)
Short drive to Juliaca before flying to Lima. Enjoy one last night out
on the town.
Day 13 Depart Lima
