Cairo, snorkelling in the Red Sea, the lost city
of Petra, Wadi Rum desert safari, Madaba, floating in the Dead
Sea, Amman. An exciting overland adventure through Middle Eastern history.
From the vitality of Cairo to the biblical lands of Jordan, this wonderful
journey of discovery explores the underwater realm of the Red Sea, superb
desert landscapes and the heart and soul of the Arab world.
Day 1 Cairo
Fabulous Cairo entices us into a world of Islamic culture, architecture
and colourful markets.
Day 2 Mt Sinai
We journey across the stark Sinai desert to Mt Sinai, home of the 10 Commandments
and panoramic landscapes.
Day 3 Nuweiba
We spend time snorkelling in the beautiful underwater world of the Red
Sea. Look for everything from puffer fish to octopi, all are close to
the beach.
Day 4 Aqaba
The morning is spent soaking in the sea or exploring a canyon, before
crossing the Gulf to Jordan for a night in the coastal resort town of
Aqaba.
Day 5 Wadi Rum
Extraordinary desert scenery in the company of the Bedouin awaits. Follow
in the steps of Lawrence of Arabia to Wadi Rum, camping in the desert
beneath a night sky laden with stars.
Day 6, 7 Petra
Hewn out of the rose coloured rock face, the ancient Nabataean city of
Petra is one of the Middle East's most spectacular destinations. Spend
a day exploring the imposing facades of its majestic buildings and tombs.
Day 8 Madaba
The historic town of Madaba, famous for its beautiful Byzantine era mosaics
and Ottoman style houses, offers a great insight to small town Jordanian
life.
Day 9, 10 Amman
There's lots to see and do in this busy capital. Walk up to the Citadel
for fantastic views of the city and surrounds, visit the restored Roman
theatre or relax by floating in the Dead Sea.
