Glaciers, cable cars, pine forests, France, Italy,
Switzerland and The Alps
The Mont Blanc region boasts one of the premier hiking circuits worldwide,
with an extensive system of paths surrounding the highest mountain in
Western Europe. This Mont Blanc trek takes us across three borders, through
France Switzerland and Italy. This region has been attracting mountaineers
and hikers from around the world for over two hundred years.
Crossing over mountain passes en route we are afforded magnificent views
of the surrounding scenery. We will hike through high alpine pastures,
crystal clear mountain lakes, gleaming white glaciers and picturesque
alpine villages shadowed by Mont Blanc. We stay in charming local hotels
and mountain refuges located in traditional alpine villages. Relax in
the evening after a tough day of hiking with a glass of French wine.
Day 1 Arrive Chamonix
Day 2 Les Houches
We transfer to Les Houches and begin with a climb through spruce forest
and alpine meadows, and then past the magnificent Bionnassay Glacier.
Enjoy views of the Chamonix Valley and Mont Blanc Range before we descend
to Les Contamines.
Day 3 Col de la Croix du Bonhomme
A morning ride brings us to our starting point for todays hike. We hike
along the old Roman road, with our next stop being the Col Du Bonhome.
As we ascend Mont Blanc, we are rewarded with the most awesome views down
into the Vallee des Chapieux. Spend the night at Les Chapieux.
Day 4 Les Chapieux
Rest day in Les Chapieux. Take it easy, and soak up the scenery as we
gain our strength for the treks ahead. Enjoy some local food and drink
in this remote alpine town.
Day 5 Col de la Seigne / Val Veny / Val
Ferret
Today we continue climbing through open pastures, arriving at the Col
de la Seigne and the border with Italy, before descending into the beautiful
Val Veny. We pass by picturesque glacier lakes en route and enjoy a night
in the Italian town of Val Ferret.
Day 6 Val Ferret
Time for another rest. Spend the day taking it easy, with options to take
a cable car to Punta Helbronner on Mt Blanc or a transglacial crossing
from Italy into France.
Day 7 Champex
Today we’ll walk past the Glacier de Pré de Bar, cross the
Grand Col Ferret (2537m) and drop into Switzerland through the Valley
of La Fouly. A fairly easy trail takes us to Praz de Fort and the lovely,
lakeside town of Champex (1457m).
Day 8 La Forclaz
Today’s hike starts at Champex d’en Bas and a steep switchback
path heading upwards for great views of the Rhône Valley below.
Taking the Bovine Way, an old trail used to access the flower-filled summer
cow pastures high above the valley, we continue to La Forclaz, Switzerland.
Day 9 La Forclaz
Rest day in the quintessential Swiss village of La Forclaz. Enjoy the
village's local fare and wine, or take a leisurely stroll around the area.
Day 10 Chamonix Valley
Saying good-bye to Switzerland, we return to France and the Chamonix Valley.
Day 11 Chamonix
Time to wind down as our trek comes to an end. Finish off your tour with

the Mont Blanc before our final night and dinner in Chamonix.
