Venice, medieval towns, Gubbio, Assisi, walks and wineries, Rome
This compact trip explores the charms of laid-back Umbria.
Experience some of the most wondrous locations in Italy as we pass from the rolling hills to the ancient hilltop towns of Gubbio and Assisi. Vibrant, colourful and friendly, these hidden gems cannot fail to delight. When combined with the famous cities of Rome and Venice, they make for quite a brilliant week!

Day 1, 2 Venice
We start our trip in the truly unique and timeless city of Venice. Its Grand Canal of two thousand marble palaces was hailed as 'the most beautiful street in the world' and its main Piazza of San Marco is truly amazing

Day 3, 4 Gubbio
Meandering our way to Umbria, we stay in the remote and impressive town of Gubbio with its narrow twisting streets and stone houses. We take the cable car to the Basilica of Sant' Ubaldo for unparalleled views of Gubbio and beyond.

Day 5 ,6 Assisi
Set upon a mountain, Assisi is the home of St Francis, founder of the Franciscan Order of monks. Sample the local wine and delicious regional specialities at an enoteca (wine bar) in the ancient Roman town of Spello.

Day 7, 8 Rome
We end our trip in Eternal Rome: a city crowded with 2000 year-old ruins and religious significance, yet pulsing to the beat of a modern political capital. We enjoy an evening orientation tour before a final night dinner.
